I must admit that as the mornings turn cooler, I am finding it harder and harder to go out and run, but I am going to continue digging deep because after just 5 days I am starting to see some big improvements in my running. This morning was brisk, and the sun was still rising as I was heading to the track, but I was determined to record one of my best times yet. Read on to find out how things went.
Despite the nip in the air I hit the track. I was once again surprised to find that I was the only one there, normally there are quite a few people getting their daily workout in when I go, but again, this is good for me because it means I have the track to myself. After getting my music ready to play, and after setting up Endomondo on my phone I was off. I have noticed that from the get go, my pace is much faster than it used to be. I am not entirely sure this is a good thing. I need to find a happy medium between pace and stamina, and I am sure that as I progress I will find a pace that is good for me. Having said that, I did in fact set a new personal best time for a 5K today. I zipped around the course in 33:41, so I am super happy about that. Compared to the first 5K I ran back in April, today’s time was a full 7 minutes faster. Whew! If I fail to get myself ready for the half next year, at least I know I will be able to blaze through a 5K.
Tomorrow is a rest day for me from running, so I will cross train with Turbo Jam instead, and then Friday this program calls for me to run 4 miles. I have never gone beyond 3.1 miles before so this will be new territory for me. I am a little bit nervous about it if I am completely honest, but I will just take my time, and will make sure I remember that time is not important, and that crossing the finishing line is.

Good luck with the training.
Thanks, John! Hope all is well with you.
All the best,
Brett
You are right there, slow and steady will get you to the finish line. Good for you on your time improvement in your 5K!!!
You are right, Brett – crossing the finish line is more important than the pace
Keep going Brett!
