What Do I Weigh Wednesday – 09/12/2012

Has it really been a week already since the last time I done this? Man, where does time go? I guess it just flies when you are having fun working out :) . This past week has been pretty good to in all areas except weight loss :( . I was truly hoping that i was not stuck in another plateau, but it seems as if I am. While I am a little disappointed, I understand that this is all part of the process, so I am going to shake things up a little bit and will keep moving forward.

So, with the scale firmly stuck at 230.8lbs, I have decided to shake things up a little, on both the food, and exercise fronts. This week is my rest week from P90X, so it is the perfect time to introduce some other forms of exercise. I am already running, and have so far completed one 2 mile run this week, as that is part of my half marathon training, so I am hoping that the running will help cause some muscle confusions. I am also going to add back in riding the exercise bike.

This is the recumbent exercise bike I have. The Marcy. Mine is orange…my fave color.

My exercise bike is like one of my best friends. It is always there when I need it, and always helps me through tough times. Every time I have plateaued, I have start using the bike again and miracles happen. Today I hopped on the bike and rode for 30 minutes, at a pace of 26.5mph and hit 13.15 miles. That was a great ride. I will do that again every day for the rest of the week, along with the running, and the occasional Turbo Jam and we will see where it goes.

On the food front, I am going to increase my in take for a short while to shake things up a little. I am not going to go crazy, but I am going to eat towards the upper ends of my daily limits, especially now that my exercise load will be increasing. I am not going to panic because every time I have plateaued, shortly after I have been rewarded with massive losses. My last plateau lasted 5 weeks, and this week makes it week 3 this go around, so I will keep moving forward, and I will let my body do its thing. it has never let me down before and I have complete faith, and trust in it. Hopefully by this time next week the scale will have moved, I guess we will have to wait and see.

Hope everyone has an awesome week,

Brett

  1. Don’t get discouraged! You can do it! Plateaus happen to all of us – good for you for not letting your “rest” week mean that you stop doing what you’re doing. What an inspirational post!

  2. I actually broke up with scale in June because I was at the same weight for 8 weeks. Then I weighted myself this week, as I am sure you read, and I had blasted past the plateau. For me it was not giving up but not looking at the number that made the difference.

      • My pleasure! It looks like we are on the same journey–losing weight and falling in love with working out! I have been learning a lot this past week about the voices in my head. Good luck in your marathon training!!
