Wow, it has been a long time since my last post. Honestly so much has happened during the past few months that I do not even know where to begin. My last post was about my successful 5K run (my first ever) I was on such a high and I will never forget that day, but since then many things have happened. Many life changing events. I am going to start writing on this blog again so that I can express my feelings. I will continue to write about my struggle with my weight, my exercise routines and food, but also some new things. Lets take a look at what has happened since my last post.
The good news is that I am still losing weight! Yay! I have not fallen off of the wagon completely, but I will admit that my exercise routine has suffered greatly during the last 2/3 months. In fact today is the first day I have done any real exercise since my 5K. I complete a 30 minute exercise bike session ans logged 11.45 miles during those 30 minutes. It felt great to do that again.
As you can see, my current weight is 243.6lbs. This means that since last October 24th 2011 I have lost 90lbs. Just 10lbs more to go until I hit the big 100! Woo Hoo! I would probably be at that number already if I had kept my exercise levels up, but that is okay. I will get there. My BMI is now 32.3 down from 44.1. I am just 3 points away from the overweight classification! I will no longer be considered obese!
So what else has been happening? Well First of all we moved to a new house! This is very exciting. It is great to finally own a home again. We have an acre of land to play around on, we have fantastic neighbors and love living in the country away from the city. I settled my workers compensation case and put to bed 3 years of hurt (even though I still hurt physically, you know what I mean). We went on vacation, and are enjoy the company of my mum from England. All of this happened in the space of 30 days. You would think that this would be enough for anyone to cope with, but just like those infomercials…..wait, there’s more
My wife, Samantha had been experiencing some rather bad headaches and backaches for a while and we thought they were migraines. One day she had a very bad headache, and was in so much pain that she could not move. We rushed her to the emergency room where they diagnosed her with just having a migraine. We got some medications for her and headed back home. One week later, she was experiencing the same thing. This time I told her that she had to go to her dr and request a CT scan. I dragged her to the doctors and demanded a brain scan. A few days later the results came back.
It turns out that Samantha has a colloid cyst in her brain. It is 8mm in size and is the cause of the headaches and other symptoms. We were referred to a neurosurgeon and finally met him last Wednesday. Now, this coming Thursday, my beautiful wife will be having brain surgery to remove the tumor. To say that this is a shock is an understatement. You never think things like this can happen to your loved ones, but we are so glad that we found the cyst/tumor and that it will be dealt with so quickly. We just know that everything will be just fine and that the surgery will be a complete success, and that God will take care of her and our family. We are so ready for Thursday to be here.
So, as you can see, the past 8 weeks or so have been a whirlwind. So much has happened, and so much more is to come our way, but we are ready for it. I am going to continue with my exercise and my weight loss, and I will be here to take care of the best thing that has ever happened to me, my wife and kids. I will be posting regular updates again, and I hope that you will read along with me. Please pray for m wife, Samantha. Prayer is a power thing, and I know that it will help her get through this tough time.
All the best,
Brett

That’s a lot to manage in a few short weeks Brett. Prayers for your wife’s speedy recovery and may the hands of the surgeons and all who participate in the surgery be guided by Grace and Divine Healing.
