C25K Challenge – Week 5 Day 3

Week 5 Day 3 of the C25K challenge would see me attempt my longest run yet. 20 minutes of running with no walking segments on the cards. I had my doubts about my ability to get through this run and while I was excited about it, I was also incredibly nervous. Click on through to see Runkeeper stats, a cool new graphic and more. C25K Challenge – Week 5 Day 2

Week 5 Day 2 of the C25K challenge seems to have snuck up on me very quickly, but I was prepared for it mentally, physically on the other hand, not so much. Last night was a pretty rough night for me with my RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) and I did not get much sleep. That couple with a niggling case of Plantar Fasciitis came together to form a perfect storm in my foot today during my run, but I managed to make it through to the end. Smoked Sausage and Chicken Jambalaya

Here is a recipe that is sure to please. The picture above shows a variant of a Smoked Sausage and Chicken Jambalaya recipe that I saw earlier on (here). I made some changes and tweaked a few things so that it would better suit my families tastes. I must admit, it turned out very well indeed. Read on for the recipe. Continue reading

C25K Challenge – Week 5 Day 1

The day I was dreading has come and almost gone, and I am still here to tell the tale! Yet again I worried about something that I did not have to worry about. What was I worrying about? C25K Week 5. The step up in the amount of running compared to the other weeks is big and I thought that I was not ready, but the C25K program and my body thought otherwise. Week 24 – Keep on Running

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! I know I did. I had a great time with my wife and kids in Lawton, OK. We went on a mini spring break trip where we swam, ate, played, ate, went hiking then ate some more. As you can tell, we done a lot of eating, and most of the food was not exactly what I could consider healthy, but I was totally at peace with myself because it was the first time I have let my hair down (well what’s left of it) since I stated my my lifestyle, but in the back of my mind I was always worried about weigh-in day. Today’s morning meeting with the scale was one I had been dreading.  Continue reading

New Progress Picture 3/23/2011

Just wanted to share a picture that shows the progress I have made so far. The pic on the left was taken in June of 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and the picture on the right was taken today at the Mt.Scott National Wildlife Refuge in Lawton, Oklahoma. I did not start my weight loss journey until October of 2011, so i went the whole of last years record breaking summer with all that extra weight on me. Lets just say I am looking forward to this summer much more than last years! Thanks so much for all of your continued support! Hope you all have a great weekend.

All the best,

Brett
